Not everyone knows that the kitchen is far from the safest place in the apartment: during cooking, a person can manifest various bad habits that he did not even know about before. Consider the most common habits that you need to get rid of.
10. Putting too much food in the pan
In some cases, a lot of patience is needed during cooking. To save as much time as possible, housewives sometimes put a lot of ingredients in the pan, but keep in mind that the results can be very unpredictable because of this. Potatoes, for example, will almost certainly not be fried at all, but steamed. The same can be said about meat. Food will stick to the pan, and other food problems may also occur. It is better to spend more time and cook a little, but then the results will not disappoint.
9. Heating the oil until it begins to smoke
Usually we pour oil into the pan and wait until it is properly heated. Many even begin to do other things while the container is on fire. Oil begins to smoke, but we do not pay much attention to it and proceed to cooking. However, do not overheat the oil too much, otherwise harmful substances will start to stand out from it, and besides, it will simply not taste very good. It is possible to heat such a product, but care must be taken to ensure that there is no smoke. Wait for a slightly audible hiss of oil and start cooking.
8. Rinse meat before cooking
The meat is washed in order to remove mucus and other contaminants before cooking. Since housewives usually do this in the kitchen sink, as a result, it is contaminated with bacteria. Because of them, food poisoning and other health problems can occur later. To prevent this from happening, do not rinse the meat in the sink, but simply pat it with a paper towel. Usually this is enough to remove bacteria harmful to humans.
7. Mixing the dough too long
Creating a dough, many mix it for too long to make the pastry as tasty as possible, but do not do this. Gluten will appear in the flour and the pastries will be too hard. Gently mix the dough with a mixer to get a homogeneous mass, and then remove it to the side and continue to achieve the desired consistency with your hands.
6. Stirring too often
Many people mix food all the time so that it does not start to burn, but this does not always go to the good of the dish. Due to the constant exposure, the food will not fry properly and will quickly turn into a real mess. Often you can mix food only if it is indicated in a specific recipe.
5. Mixing hot liquids without removing the limiter in the blender
For some dishes (for example, for various mashed soups), it is necessary to mix hot liquids, but not everyone knows how to do it correctly. If mistakes are made, the liquid can get on the skin of a person, scatter all over the room. Many blenders have a stopper at the top: a small cover that can be removed if necessary. It will definitely need to be removed before proceeding with the mixing of hot liquids. Otherwise, the pressure will build up in the blender due to steam, and after a while all the contents will splash out. Before using the device, you will need to remove the lid and close the hole with a folded towel: it will prevent the liquid from scattering in different directions.
4. Cutting meat immediately after removing the grill
Most often, people begin to eat meat immediately after removing it from the grill, but this should not be done. You need to wait at least a few minutes before serving. While the piece is lying, the juices will be distributed on it as evenly as possible, and as a result, the meat will be very tasty. If you start to cut the pieces, not letting them lie down, the juice will not linger in the meat and will be immediately on the cutting board. After cooking, small pieces should be left at least 5 minutes, large ones - for 20 minutes (when, for example, a whole bird is served).
3. Use of a non-stick pan over high heat
Using a pan on which there is a non-stick coating, do not make the fire on the stove too strong, otherwise perfluorocarbons will stand out from the lining. These are chemicals that cause cancer, liver disease, and digestive problems. When planning to use a non-stick pan, you should find out what temperature its manufacturer recommends.
2. The use of metal blades
Do not use metal blades for pans that have a non-stick coating. Otherwise, scratches may appear on the surface of the container. Due to such damage, the non-stick coating will release perfluorocarbons, the dangers of which are described in the previous paragraph. Using a frying pan with a non-stick lining, it is better to use safer heat-resistant blades made of rubber or wood. Use them as carefully as possible in order to maintain the integrity of the coating.
1. The use of heat-resistant containers on an open fire
Heat resistant containers are very well suited for baking, for example, chickens. If you need to fry something on a fire, it is better to opt for a metal pan. For frying on an open fire, heat-resistant containers are not suitable, because with strong heating they can fly to smithereens. As a result, you will have to wash the soiled surfaces and remove the fragments, and in case of unsuccessful combination of circumstances, the pieces of dishes can stick into the skin or in the person’s eye.
